Germany replaced England in fifth place in January's FIFA World ranking list on Wednesday - one of only two minor movements in the top 20 positions.

With only 31 internationals played - mainly friendlies by Asian teams - since the last ranking list was issued in mid-December, the results had little impact in a traditionally quiet time for international soccer.

Germany moved up because of the devalued impact of older results used in the points calculation.
Brazil stayed in first place ahead of world champions Italy, followed by Argentina, France and Germany rounding out the top five positions, with England slipping to sixth.
The only other movement in the top 20 positions saw Egypt improve eight places to move up to 19th with Romania slipping back to 20th.
