The Italian Football League (Lega Calcio) has announced that a one-minute silence will be observed for the victims of the L'Aquila earthquake disaster.
All matches taking place in Serie A, Serie B and the youth team leagues will show a mark of respect before kick off. The players will also wear black armbands in memory of those who have lost their lives.
Sky News Italia claim around 180 people have died so far, but the death toll is likely to rise as bodies continue to be pulled out of the rubble.
Tens of thousands of people have been left homeless as the 24 hour round-the-clock emergency operations continue frantically.
The earthquake struck the central Italian town early on Monday morning, leaving devastation and despair in its wake.
A number of Serie A clubs including Roma, Milan, Inter, Fiorentina and Juventus have all shown their support as they donate funds to help with the rescue attempts.
