回帖︰World Cup: Mexico's Luis Montes to miss tournament after breaking leg against Ecuador
Mexico midfielder Luis Montes will miss the World Cup with a suspected broken leg suffered in the 3-1 victory over Ecuador in Dallas.
Montes was hurt just two minutes after he had given Mexico the lead in a challenge with Segundo Castillo
which could also see the Ecuador midfielder ruled out of the World Cup with a knee injury.
Montes was carried off on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital,
with a Mexican Football Federation spokesman saying he had suffered a suspected broken tibia and fibula.
A foot injury suffered by captain Rafael Marquez will also be of concern to Mexico,
who scored twice in the second half through Marco Fabian and an own goal from Maximo Banguera before Enner Valencia scored late on for Ecuador.
Montes' superb left-foot drive from 25 yards had given Mexico the half-time advantage before Ecuador rallied
after the break as Fidel Martinez had a goal disallowed following a goalmouth scramble and a Joao Rojas effort was cleared off line by Paul Aguilar.
But a spectacular blast from 30 yards from Marco Fabian doubled Mexico's lead in the 69th minute, the midfielder finding some space before unleashing a fierce drive.
Seven minutes later the game was put beyond Ecuador when dos Santos shot against the post and the ball rebounded into the net off the back of Ecuador keeper Banguera.
Ecuador, whose defence had looked shaky throughout, did restore a little pride with a low free-kick from Valencia which skidded through a crowded penalty area.
