Roeder slams defending
Newcastle chief Glenn Roeder was unhappy with his side's defending as The Magpies slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham.
The Magpies dominated for long spells and held a deserved lead through Scott Parker, but they switched off in the final ten minutes, after Parker went off injured, and were punished by Brian McBride and Carlos Bocanegra.
Roeder was understandably frustrated as he feels the players need to cut out errors.
"We lost the game today quite simply on two pieces of poor defending," he told Sky Sports News. "It is easy to sum it up.
"For 80 minutes we were worth the lead and I could not see Fulham opening us up in open play and we have gone and conceded two bad goals.
"I have got to stop coming on here and saying that, but there were two bad mistakes and that cost us the two goals.
"We should have taken three points but have taken none and it is a poor day for us."
Roeder heaped praise on Parker, but he limped out shortly before Fulham drew level with an injury.
"Scott Parker was fantastic, and was well backed up by Emre, and it is a shame he had to come off injured with ten minutes to go," added Roeder.
"He has a bang under his knee and we will have to see if he is fit for the Uefa Cup on Thursday."
