James Rodriguez has completed a medical with Real Madrid ahead of confirmation of his transfer to the club. As he left the Sanitas La Moraleja hospital in the Spanish capital, the player said he was “very happy” and that “everything went well”.
The Colombia international will now
put pen to paper on a six-year deal, accompanied by Real president Florentino Perez.
The 23-year-old will officially be a new Madrid player in the coming hours, with Los Blancos and AS Monaco announcing the signing on their respective club websites.
Real will pay a transfer fee of 80 million euros for James, who will earn five million euros per season throughout the six years of his contract.
The top scorer at Brazil 2014 will be unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu at 19:00 or 20:00 on Tuesday evening.
He will be handed the number 10 shirt, which was unused last season. The Bernabeu turnstiles will be opened up to Real Madrid’s fans half an hour before James’s presentation.
