Barcelona, after realizing that their dream of acquiring PSG centre-back Thiago Silva will not come to fruition, are refocusing their efforts of Roma’s young Brazilian centre-back, Marquinhos.

According to Sky Italia, Barcelona are rasining their bid from ?25 million, which was previously rejected by the Serie A side, to a whopping ?32 million for the 19-year-old prospect.Barcelona see Marquinhos as a sufficient alternative to Silva and don’t want to waste time in wrapping up the transfer, which they hope to do before first team pre-season training begins on 15^th July.

Spanish sports daily, As has also added that Marquinhos’ agent Roberto Calenda may already be in Barcelona to negotiate the transfer of the youngster.Barcelona were also looking at Chelsea’s Brazilian centre-back, David Luiz, but it appears that Paris Saint Germain are the leading candidates to land the defender, plus one of the very few who can pay his ?45 million asking price.
