Málaga CF reaches agreement to end Julio Baptista’s contractJulio César Baptista and Málaga Club de Fútbol reached an amicable agreement on Friday 19th July to terminate the striker’s contract. The Club and the player came to an understanding following his last match against German side, Kaller SC, after two and a half years with the Martiricos outfit.
Julio Baptista arrived at Málaga CF during the January transfer window of the 2010/11 campaign, and saw theBlue and Whites to League success last season and qualification to the UEFA Champions League in 2012/13.
Málaga CF would like to wish the Brazilian the best of luck for thefuture and his new career with Brazil’s Cruzeiro EC. Baptista will hold a press conference regarding his departure at La Rosaleda’s press room tomorrow.
Málaga CF’s general manager, Vicente Casado states: “An understanding was reached between the player and the Club,” and with regards torumours of an official complaint filed by Baptista, Casado affirms: “Itwas all a misunderstanding. Julio Baptista has always defended the Blueand Whites during his two and a half years here, and during recentnegotiations has always had the utmost respect for Málaga CF and wishes the Club all the very best.”
Julio Baptista arrived at Málaga in June 2011 from AS Roma, and during the second half of that campaign scored nine goals in 11 matches. TheBrazilian-born striker was beset by injury the following year and only took part in four League games, scoring a fantastic goal against GetafeCF. Baptista returned to the pitch in the second half of 2012/13,playing in four UEFA Champions League matches and 14 League games,scoring four goals.
