Lazio and Genoa favourites to land Liverpool's Emiliano Alfaro - report
The two Italian outfits are reportedly negotiating a co-ownership deal to bring the striker to Serie A, which would end Nacional's chances of taking him across MontevideoItalian Serie A sides Lazio and Genoa have emerged as prime candidates to sign Liverpool de Montevideo star Emiliano Alfaro, with the player admitting that talks with his club are already at an advanced stage.
The two teams are prepared to enter into a co-ownership deal to take the 23-year-old striker across the Atlantic Ocean, according to Ovacion. This would frustrate the efforts of Nacional, who are keen to purchase the star from their rivals in the Uruguayan capital.
The transfer of the player, who with seven goals was the second highest scorer in the Apertura campaign, would cost the clubs around ?3 million.
Commenting on his future, Alfaro admitted that talks existed, although he would not reveal the identity of the interested parties.
"Officially I have not been told anything. The truth is that there are negotiations and they are at an advanced stage. As long as it is not official, I will not comment on it," he explained to Sport 890.
"It is the right time to make the jump."
Alfaro has one cap for the Uruguay national team, making his debut in November 2011 in a 1-0 friendly victory over Italy.
