Transfer news: Keisuke Honda hopes to move to top European club this summer
Keisuke Honda: Is hopeful of a big move this summer
Japan international midfielder Keisuke Honda has revealed he hopes to make the move to a top European club this summer.
The 27-year-old currently plys his trade for CSKA Moscow in Russia but has been linked with a move away in recent weeks.
Honda's contract with CSKA expires in December, meaning he could leave this summer for a cut price fee or on a free transfer in January.
Serie A giants AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for Honda, who played all three of Japan's games at the Confederations Cup in Brazil, scoring once.
The former Nagoya Grampus and VVV-Venlo star, who moved to Russia in 2010, believes the time is right for him to move on.
"I don't know where I'll be taking the next step yet, but I know I've got a chance [to play for a big club]," Honda told Japan Times. "I have until August so I'll wait and see.
"If I go to a big club, I'll become an infinitely better player. The improvement I'll make then will be anything but minor.
"I'm the type to soak up everything and anything in my surroundings, and if I play with better players, I'll get better. It's how I've been able to get this far in my career."
