Manchester United are in discussions with Anthony Martial's representatives over a new long-term contract.

Martial, 22, has a year left on his present deal but United have the option to extend by a further season.

Earlier this summer Martial's agent said the France forward wanted to leave the club because of a lack of playing opportunities.

Tottenham made an inquiry, and it is understood that United manager Jose Mourinho was open to a deal.

Chelsea's Willian and Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic were being suggested as replacements.

His exit was blocked, however, with United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward believing Mourinho should get more out of him.

It is understood United want to sign the Frenchman for an additional five years.

A £36m signing from Monaco in 2015, Martial's only appearance so far this season was in the 3-2 defeat at Brighton on 19 August, when he was replaced after an hour.

He was not on the bench for Monday's 3-0 home defeat by Tottenham.

Manchester United have risked further undermining manager Jose Mourinho by opening discussions with Anthony Martial over a new long-term contract.

United blocked Mourinho's attempts to sell Martial, 22, in the summer after the French forward's agent Philippe Lamboley confirmed he wanted to leave. United rebuffed an enquiry from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy in the transfer window and are now prepared to tie Martial down on a longer deal. Martial has entered the last year of his United contract but the club has the option of an additional year.

咁攪落去咪只會兩敗俱傷…………

球員自己想走，領隊擺明唔想用佢。但球會就堅持要留人。


最後就好似宜家咁，球員無穩定既出場機會。間中有得出，都唔會有咩好表現。

領隊見到一個都唔想為球隊賣命既球員，眼火爆。有人用就自然唔會用佢。無人用之際，被迫用佢，又會對佢諸多挑剔！

球會就白出糧養住個對球隊無咩大貢獻既球員。但就慳左筆驚人既轉會費。因為預計賣馬迪爾後，九成要貼更多錢黎買入另一個新球員。唔賣佢，球隊名義上夠人。唔駛買人。慳番筆。

以上係講笑,入返正題,個人想法係
1) 球員續約後再賣可以賣到好價錢,好處係球員賺左筆簽字費先,仲可能有人工加,球會又唔使蝕賣,壞處係下家球會要比更高轉會費先買到

2)球會選擇同不受教練重用既球員續約會唔會暗示"拿,你續約先,個教練捱埋今季就炒架喇"

The Daily Telegraph reported over the weekend how the 22-year-old had felt emboldened by United’s refusal to bow to Mourinho’s desire to sell him and the prospect of the forward signing a new deal would mark another severe blow to the manager’s dwindling authority.

Mourinho no longer has control over transfer matters and the club’s willingness to give a lucrative new contract to a player he does not wish to keep further undermines his position.

Martial, along with Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, is considered to be central to  United’s future by Woodward and his allies and they were unwilling to entertain the idea of selling the player signed from Monaco by Louis van Gaal, Mourinho’s predecessor, in 2015. So far he has cost them £44 million of a projected £61 million fee.

咁又帶出另一個問題,如果球會本來有心炒摩佬,點解又肯同佢續長約,續左約又唔比support佢唔比佢買人

正路應該係季中睇下教到咩成績先傾續約,而家咁既情況似係球會處理手法棋差一著
