Mario Balotelli has been fined a week's wages by Manchester City for a breach of club discipline, his manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed.
The 21-year-old's visit to a strip club less than 48 hours before a Premier League match against Bolton Wanderers last week was reported in the press.
Mancini has previously outlined his expectation that players be at home and in bed at night when a first-team game is less than two days away, but Balotelli was reportedly caught leaving the ‘X In The City’ strip club in Liverpool at 2.45 am.
City manager Mancini started Balotelli in that game regardless, and the Italian scored in a routine 2-0 victory.
Despite the goal, Mancini said the striker could have done even better.
“With more sleep Mario might have scored three or four more goals,” the manager reflected after the game.
"I didn't do anything wrong at the [strip] club," Balotelli told Gazzetta dello Sport. "But I understand that if she [his girlfriend Raffaella Fico] had gone with her friends to a strip club, I would have been very angry."
