Bayern Munich have signed former Arsenal midfielder Serge Gnabry from Werder Bremen on a three-year contract.Gnabry, who was top scorer at the Rio Olympics last summer, joins Carlo Ancelotti's side after an impressive season with Bremen. The 21-year-old, who scored 11 goals last season in the Bundesliga, told the club's website: 'It is a great honour to be part of FC Bayern. I have exciting times ahead of me, which I look forward to.'Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: 'We are delighted to see another young German national player in FC Bayern in Serge Gnabry. Serge has developed very well in Bremen.'
The move will go through on July 1, with Gnabry providing Ancelotti with an option out wide alongside Arjen Robben, Douglas Costa and exciting French prospect Kingsley Coman.
Gnabry failed to cement a place in the first team at Arsenal in four seasons at the Emirates Stadium, spending the 2015-16 season on loan at West Brom. But after a disastrous spell at The Hawthorns in which he made just one Premier League appearance, Gnabry reignited his career back in his native Germany. The Stuttgart-born winger moved to Bremen for £5million last summer, despite Gunners boss Arsene Wenger expressing his desire to keep him at the club.
But the lure of first team football meant a return to Germany, for whom he won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in 2016.
Gnabry earned his first senior cap last November, scoring a hat-trick in the World Cup qualifier away to San Marino, which Germany won 8-0.
