New York Red Bulls star Thierry Henry maintains Arsenal can't stop Cesc Fabregas joining Barcelona
Former team-mate qualifies earlier statements...
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has declared that his former employers cannot stand in Cesc Fabregas' way as the 23-year-old midfielder eyes a return to boyhood club Barcelona.
Thus far the North London outfit have managed to repel long running attempts from their Catalan counterparts to lure Fabregas back to Camp Nou where he spent much of his early years before joining Arsenal in 2003.
As he prepares to be officially unveiled as a New York Red Bulls player, the French striker and one-time Gunners captain qualified earlier statements in which he reportedly said he wanted Fabregas to remain at the Emirates.
"I never said I wanted Cesc to continue at Arsenal. I said I'm a fan of Arsenal and that it is better for me if he stays. But you cannot tell a player who wants to go home that he cannot do it," Henry told ESPN.
Henry added that he consulted David Beckham about a move to the MLS, and the England man had nothing but good words about playing in the States.
henry said: "Yes, I did approach David on my move. He never said anything negative to me about the MLS and told me he enjoys everything in the game here. I respect Becks. He has been a great guy to me. He encouraged me to play here."
