West Brom have confirmed they have completed the signing of Spanish defender Pablo Ibanez on a free transfer.
Ibanez has put pen to paper on a three-year deal which will come into effect on July 1 after his contract with Atletico Madrid expires.
The 28-year-old defender has 23 caps for the Spanish national team but made just a handful of appearances for his club last season following Quique Sanchez Flores's appointment as coach.
West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo is delighted with the capture. "Pablo comes with bags of experience at the highest level, having been a regular fixture in La Liga for the past seven seasons," he said in a statement released by the club.
"He's also played in the Champions League for Atletico and the World Cup for Spain, so the Premier League should hold no fears for him.
"Pablo has a great pedigree and, at 28, is at a good age. He will bring a physical presence to our defence and his arrival will create real competition at centre-half."
