BIRMINGHAM AND WOLVES TO BATTLE FOR £7M STEVEN FLETCHER
Birmingham and Wolves have got the green light in their £7million battle for Steven Fletcher
BIRMINGHAM and Wolves were last night given the green light in their £7million battle to sign Burnley’s Scotland striker Steven Fletcher – and they could yet be followed by Stoke and Blackburn.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has already signed Serbian Nikola Zigic from Valencia for £6m and if he lands Fletcher then that will kill off his interest in Rangers striker Kris Boyd.
Fletcher has been given permission to talk to both clubs, although he is currently on holiday and has left the negotiations to his agent. He is not due back home until next week and by then he is hoping his future will be sorted out.
Fletcher, 23, was the Clarets’ top scorer after his £3m move from Hibs – and Wolves manager Mick McCarthy confirmed his interest with a bid that beat the £6.5m he paid for Kevin Doyle from Reading.
