愛華頓總監巴辛達爾發放已辭退艾拿戴斯的消息：「我想感謝Sam在過去7個月為愛華頓所幹的事。Sam在過去具挑戰性的時刻加入，帶來穩定，我們為此感激。」他續說：「不過我們已作出這個決定，作為會方的長遠計劃，我們將於今夏委任新領隊。」

去年11月愛華頓解除前荷蘭教頭朗奴高文職務，繼而找來艾拿戴斯成為新領隊，並簽下18個月合約，「大Sam」執掌下，立即帶領愛華頓擺脫降班危機，最終更以第8名完成球季。

然而，在該名63歲老牌教頭領導下，卻未能俘虜拖肥迷的心，會方不滿球隊所演繹的足球風格欠缺娛樂性。

由於合約未完，故預計會方需要向他賠償600萬鎊，有指前屈福特主帥馬高施華最有機會繼位。
