AC Milan bid £39m for Man Utd target Andrea Belotti

Serie A giants AC Milan have made a £39m bid for Manchester United target Andrea Belotti, Sky in Italy understand.

While the bid has yet to be rejected outright, it is understood Belotti's club Torino want in the region of £56.5m for the striker.

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that United had a bid of a £52.4m (?60m) rejected by Real Madrid for striker Alvaro Morata, and should they fail to agree a deal for the Spain international would move to sign Belotti.

Madrid are thought to want around £78m for Morata, while Belotti has a ?100m (£87.3m) release clause in his contract.

Beltotti only joined Torino for a fee of £6.5m in August 2015 from Palermo, but has burst onto the scene with Il Toro.

The 23-year-old Italy international notched 28 goals for Torino last season as the club finished ninth in Serie A, while he also scored three times for the Azzurri in 2018 World Cup qualification games.

Milan finished fifth in the Italian top flight last campaign, and their latest move could push United into moving forward in the transfer market.

?100m release clause is for foreign clubs

Milan is after Torino's Andrea Belotti, as indicated by today's offer to his club, but has other interests on the transfer market too. A meeting could take place in the next few hours for André Silva, Diego Costa, and James Rodriguez, with their agent Jorge Mendes. Milan's first offer to Torino of ?45m was below the club's ask of ?100m (equivalent to Belotti's release clause), and Torino doesn't look willing to go below ?70m plus added players (such as Niang, Zapata, and Kucka). Torino's asking price is a result of Atletico Madrid's approach (before their transfer ban), which saw them offer ?65m plus the choice of two strong young players. So, Torino does not wish to go accept an offer below that amount, and Milan as a result must improve their bid.

Milan pursue contacts with Torino for Belotti: the latest

Milan doesn't stop for one minute on the transfer market as Montella's team is still thinking of Andrea Belotti, with contacts between two clubs that have continued.
Milan is talking with intermediaries and have made it to a ?45m cash offer plus Paletta and Niang as add-ons to the deal.
Milan would then consider making it to 60/65m but are still far away from the ?100m clause Belotti has in his contract.
Torino and their president like both players that could get into the deal but would like a ?80m cash offer plus the players.
Parties are slowly working to reduce this gap while the player would appreciate the destination.

Milan is now in China for their tournée and both Fassone and Mirabelli are talking with the owners about the economic disposabilities the club has regarding their targets where Belotti is the first choice, and Aubameyang and Kalinic other options.
They're on stand-by for the Fiorentina striker. They also talked going again after
Morata but Real Madrid wouldn't consider lowering their 90m request.
