Arjen Robben limps off with a thigh injury as Carlo Ancelotti watches his Bayern Munich side beat Lippstadt 4-3- Arjen Robben was replaced by Mario Crnicki after 33 minutes on Saturday
- Dutchman set up own-goal and scored second before leaving the action
- Franck Ribery struck a third and another own-goal gave commanding lead
- Fifth-tier side hit back with three second-half goals for nervy ending
It was a mixed afternoon for new Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti as he watched his side hang on for a 4-3 win but lost Arjen Robben to a thigh injury. For his first game in charge of the Bundesliga champions, the Italian named a strong starting XI, which included Xabi Alonso, Philipp Lahm and Franck Ribery to take on fifth-tier Lippstadt.A trademark surge from Robben forced Julian Green to put the ball into his own net, before the former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger doubled the lead with an excellent finish.
The inevitable third came courtesy of Ribery, who fired in his effort just before half-time as Robben limped out of the action to be replaced by Mario Crnicki.
Five minutes after the break another own-goal - this time from Marvin Joswig, looked to have put the visiting side into an inalienable position, but the lowly hosts began to mount the unlikeliest of comebacks.
Marcel Rump struck in the 51st minute, before a Stefan Parensen header added respect to the scoreline and Paolo Mailla made sure it was a less than comfortable end to the clash for the Bavarians.
Afterwards, Ancelotti was optimistic about the 32-year-old's latest setback.
'He felt something in his muscle,' 'The doc will examine it. I hope it's nothing serious,' he said.A recurring theme for much of his career, Robben's durability throughout a season has always been a reason for concern and although it remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined this time, the club do have 18-year-old Euro 2016 winner Reanto Sanches to fill the void.
