Manchester United player Marcus Rashford nominated for Golden Boy awardMan Utd news includes recognition for two academy graduates from Italian newspaper Tuttosport's Golden Boy award.
Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah have been nominated for the Golden Boy award.
Rashford, 19, has enjoyed a stratospheric 14 months which have included goalscoring career, Premier League and international debuts, an England squad berth at the European Championship, as well as FA Cup and EFL Cup triumphs with United.
The teenager netted his first Premier League goal in over six months at Sunderland on Sunday to take his tally for the season up to eight.
Fosu-Mensah has been restricted to three starts and four substitute appearances this season but has made a glittering and lengthy list following an auspicious breakthrough last year.
Rashford faces competition from Monaco's coveted Kylian Mbappe, Borussia Dortmund forward Ousmane Dembele, City favourite Gabriel Jesus, Patrick Kluivert's son, Justin, current holder Renato Sanches and Everton midfielder Tom Davies, among many others.
The Golden Boy accolade, established by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003, insists all nominees must be under the age of 21.
Wayne Rooney claimed the prize in 2004 after his breathtaking breakthrough at the European Championship while Paul Pogba received it a year after he left United in 2013.
Anthony Martial became the latest United player to win it in 2015 and Sanches - who Jose Mourinho wanted to sign for United - claimed it last year having helped Benfica to the Primeira Liga and Portugal to European Championship glory.
United duo Adnan Januzaj and Luke Shaw have also made the long list in the past.
