Hull City take Isaac Hayden on loan from Arsenal

Hull City have confirmed that they have signed Isaac Hayden on a season-long loan, with Chuba Akpom also poised to head to Humberside from the Emirates.

Hayden has featured for Arsenal at U21 level in recent seasons but has not been able to force his way into the first-team picture.

“It’s exactly what I need at this stage of my career," Hayden told the club's official website."

This club is an ambitious one, so to be part of this is a great opportunity. It’s a chance for me to prove myself.”

Akpom, who has made nine competitive appearances for the Arsenal first-team, is also in talks with Steve Bruce's side.

He impressed when scoring a hat-trick against a Singapore Select XI during Arsenal's pre-season tour of the Far East.

Arsenal's Chuba Akpom set to join Isaac Hayden at Hull City



Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom is set to follow team-mate Isaac Hayden to Championship side Hull City on a season-long loan deal.
Akpom, 19, scored a hat-trick for the Gunners in pre-season and manager Arsene Wenger said he would not be sent out on loan.
Earlier on Friday, 20-year-old Hayden, who can play in defence or midfield, made the season-long move to Hull.
Both players are England Under-20 internationals.
"It's exactly what I need at this stage of my career," Hayden told the club website.
"This club is an ambitious one, so to be part of this is a great opportunity. It's a chance for me to prove myself."
He has played twice for the Gunners - both in the League Cup.
Akpom has had previous spells at Brentford, Coventry and Nottingham Forest, making a total of 26 career appearances without finding the net.

Hull City medicals for Chuba Akpom and Moses Odubajo

Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom and Brentford’s Moses Odubajo will both have medicals at Hull City today, according to Sky Sources.

Both players travelled to East Yorkshire on Sunday night ahead of completing their moves on Monday.

Odubajo will move after the Tigers triggered the 22-year-old’s release clause – believed to be £3.5 million.

The midfielder only signed with Brentford in June 2014 from Leyton Orient and scored three goals to help them secure a play-off place at the end of the season.

Steve Bruce is also looking to boost his attacking options by acquiring Akpom who will join Hull on a season-long loan deal from the Gunners.

The 19-year-old made headlines during Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia, scoring a hat-trick during the opening match against the Singapore XI.

Akpom has represented England at under-20 level and spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry City and Nottingham Forest.

The pair will join new arrivals Ryan Taylor, Sam Clucas and Isaac Hayden ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Huddersfield Town.

Sam Clucas and Chuba Akpom got Hull's Championship season off to a strong start with debut goals in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield at the KC Stadium.

Former Chesterfield winger Clucas opened the scoring after 38 minutes when his first effort from an Ahmed Elmohamady cross came back off Huddersfield keeper Alex Smithies and he netted the rebound.

Arsenal loanee Akpom added a second when he shot high into the goal after working space on the right side of the area.
