Gonzalo Higuain's agent has revealed the Argentine striker won't be renewing his Napoli contract.

Higuain is under contract at Napoli until 2018 but Nicolas Higuain, his brother and agent, revealed that the 28-year-old will not extend his stay in Naples and could leave on a free transfer in two years' time if he doesn't depart before then.

Higuain, who scored 36 times in Serie A last season, has a current buyout clause in his contract that is reportedly £72m.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone wants a world-class forward to spearhead his side's attack next term and Marca reports that he has set his sights on the former Real Madrid striker, while Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the Argentine.

Speaking to Radio Continental, Nicolas Higuain said: "We arrived with a Champions League project, of being champions, of growing, and the response of the company was not the most correct.

"It's their right to ask for his buyout clause, but we will opt for the path of not renewing the contract and he will be free in 2018.

"In these conditions we are going to respect the contract that we have with Napoli but we are not going to renew it under any circumstances. Gonzalo is super professional and will continue to give the maximum."

Arsenal are interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, according to Sky sources.

Sky in Italy has reported that no offer has been forthcoming from the Gunners, but say "intermediaries" have been in contact with the Argentina striker's brother who acts as his agent.

Higuain - top scorer in Serie A last season with 36 goals - would cost Arsenal a club record fee. That has led to speculation in Italy that Giroud may be used as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

Giroud's agent - asked about the possibility of moving to Napoli - told Radio CRC that the France international would enjoy playing for the Serie A club.

The agent, Mickael Manuello, said: "There is no fear in Olivier going to Napoli, it is a magnificent city.

"In Campania, my client would lead a wonderful life, not to mention that the type of game orchestrated by Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri could enhance the quality of a centre-forward like him."

He added: "At the moment, Giroud is an Arsenal player. If he was asked to leave, then we would evaluate our options."

拿玻里上季取得意甲亞軍，前鋒希古恩（Gonzalo Higuain）則以36球成為聯賽神射手。據意大利傳媒報道，中超球隊河北華夏幸福最近向希古恩招手，開出了高達5000萬歐元的年薪，平均周薪即為冠絕全球的65萬歐元，與兩位公認現役球王基斯坦奴朗拿度及美斯二人合計的薪酬相若。不過，一般相信今夏將會離開拿玻里的希古恩，對如此豐厚條件不為所動，決意留在歐洲發展。

各大中超球會今年大灑金錢，引入多名歐美名將，其中河北就先後獲得謝雲奴與拿維斯兩名當打球星加盟，惟今次未能成功打動拿維斯的阿根廷國家隊隊友希古恩，齊齊為人民幣服務。
