Kovacic reaches agreement for Roma loan moveThe Croatian midfielder is negotiating a move to the Stadio Olimpico according to Gazzetta dello Sport, but that proves a problem if Real Madrid are to lower the cost of signing Paul Pogba
Mateo Kovacic is close to joing Serie A side Roma on a season-long loan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. That, however, is a stumbling block for his current team Real Madrid, who want to include the Croatian as part of a potential deal to sign Paul Pogba and lower his price of 140 million euros. With this information from Gazzetta, Kovacic is seemingly determined to leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in search of regular first team football and a return to Italy. The player has thus rejected offers on the table from Juventus and AC Milan.
In the next few hours it's expected that Roma sporting director, Walter Sabatini, will travel to Madrid to close the deal.
The Giallorossi has opted for Kovacic to replace Miralem Pjanic who joined Italian rivals Juventus on Monday.
Real paid 30 million euros for the 22-year-old last summer, but the former Internazionale player hasn't had continuity with either Rafa Benitez or Zinedine Zidane.
