Stoke have completed the signing of Senegal striker Mame Biram Diouf.

The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal and will join the Midlands club on July 1 when his contract at Hannover 96 expires.

Diouf, previously of Manchester United, scored 25 goals in the Bundesliga after leaving Old Trafford in 2012, and also has three goals in 18 caps for his country.

He joins manager Mark Hughes’ side along with 21-year-old Slovakian defender Dionatan Teixeira, who has also signed for the club for an undisclosed fee.

Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes said: "It's no secret that Mame is someone we have been looking to bring to the club for some time.

"Mark has wanted to sign Mame since he took over as manager last year.

We tried to get him last summer and made another attempt in January, so we're naturally delighted to have finally secured his services.

"He has been a tremendous success in Germany as his record underlines that. He is keen to return to England and make an impact in the Premier League.

We're pleased to be able to give him the platform to hopefully achieve that ambition.”


Diouf made just five appearances for United after joining from Molde as a 21-year-old in 2009,

and he was shipped out on loan to Blackburn Rovers, where he scored three times in 26 appearances, in the 2011-12 season.

Teixeira, meanwhile, is a Brazilian-born centre-back recently called up to the Slovakia Under-21s.

He had trials at both Reading and Stoke whilst a player with Slovakian side Banska Bystrica, before signing for the Potters on Wednesday.

Stoke have now made four summer signings, after capturing Phil Bardsley from Sunderland and Steve Sidwell on a free transfer after he was released by Fulham.

Mame Biram Diouf: Stoke City hope to conclude deal for striker



Stoke City are hoping to complete a deal for former Manchester Utd striker Mame Biram Diouf from Hannover 96.
Potters chairman Peter Coates has confirmed they are close to signing the 26-year-old Senegal international, who rejected a new deal at the German club.
"We're hopeful that Diouf will be done," Coates told BBC Radio Stoke.
"He's the striker Mark Hughes wanted last year. We thought twice we'd got the deal done only for the deal to collapse, as it does in football."

Diouf first arrived in English football in December 2009 when he signed for Manchester United from Norwegian club Molde.
The Senegal player made nine appearances for United, netting his only United goal in a 3-0 Premier League win over Burnley at Old Trafford.
He also began a season on loan with Blackburn Rovers in August 2010, scoring six times in 30 appearances, 12 of them as substitute,
in his year under Sam Allardyce, who signed him, then Steve Kean at Ewood Park.
Diouf, who was linked with a move to his former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Cardiff City in January, missed the final two months of the season with a shoulder injury.
Had he joined the Welsh side he would have been reunited with boss Solskjaer, who he played under Manchester United's reserves.
He has turned down the offer of an extended contract with Hannover,
for whom he has hit 30 league goals in 68 games since joining the Bundesliga club in January 2012.

If he signs, he would follow another former Manchester United player, Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley, to the Britannia Stadium.
And chairman Coates suggests that, unlike his Stoke predecessor Tony Pulis, Hughes,
still settling in at Stoke this time a year ago, is keen to do most of his shopping early in his first full summer transfer window.
"We've got a few irons in the fire with other players," added Coates.
"Tony Pulis had a preference for leaving things late. I wasn't always sure he was right but that's what he felt, so we tended to go down that path.
"Mark would rather do things earlier.
"They're all different. The outcome is the important thing."

Diouf and Teixeira join Bardsley and Sidwell at the Britannia Stadium

STOKE CITY have taken their tally of close season signings to four by landing Mame Biram Diouf and Dionatan Teixeira.

Striker Diouf will move to the Britannia Stadium from July 1 when his contract with German side Hannover 96 expires,

while the Potters have paid an undisclosed fee to Banska Bystrica for central defender Teixeira.

They join Phil Bardsley and Steve Sidwell in checking-in at the Britannia Stadium ahead of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season.


Diouf, who has agreed a four-year contract,

is no stranger to English football having spent three years with Manchester United earlier in his career, which also included a loan spell with Blackburn.

The Senegalese international joined Hannover in 2012 and has proved to be a big hit in the Bundesliga, scoring 25 goals in 57 league appearances.

Teixeira, who was born in Brazil but is a current member of the Slovak Under-21 squad,

has made 29 league appearances for Banska Bystrica in the Slovak Super Liga.

The imposing 6'4" defender has signed a three-year contract and is relishing the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League as a member of Mark Hughes' first team squad.

Scholes added: "We have been following Dionatan's progress for some time and we're delighted to have secured his services

because there's no doubt he's a talented player with a great deal of potential."
