United are turned down by Guilherme Siqueira after full-back is offered a longer deal by Gary Neville's Valencia
Guilherme Siqueira has turned down a move to Newcastle United .The Magpies had arranged talks and a medical on Tyneside on Saturday, but the Brazilian left-back did not turn up after late interest from La Liga side Valencia.
The Atletico Madrid defender is believed to have been offered a better and potentially longer deal by the Mestalla club.Siqueira was also told he would only be a back-up player by Newcastle for the last 15 games of the Premier League season.
It remains to be seen whether Siqueira’s arrival at Valencia will see Argentina international Lucas Orban depart on deadline day, but the versatile defender has been offered to United in the last couple of days.
There has also been talk in Italy of Davide Santon return to St James’ Park as a possible loan signing, however, it is understood that there are other options on the Magpies’ wish-list.
Newcastle still want cover at the back with Paul Dummett just returning from a hamstring injury and Fabricio Coloccini also enduring a couple of knocks this season.
However, they will wait to bring in long-term target Jetro Willems of PSV Eindhoven with the full-back still getting over injury problems himself.
Willems made his return to action in PSV’s 4-2 win over De Graafschap on Saturday but a summer move seems likely for the Holland international.
