The former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder collapsed in Mandelieu on Thursday afternoon and has been transferred to a cardiology unit in Monaco
David Ginola was hospitalised on Thursday after collapsing during a football match. The former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder was said to be 'unconscious but stable' after he collapsed in Mandelieu on the south coast He was transferred to a cardiology unit in the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco where he underwent tests. French publication Nice Matin reported that he had suffered a suspected heart attack, although that is yet to be confirmed..
Ginola later tweeted: "Footy match in the midday sun, not very clever. Now having some tests done. Whoever voted for a World Cup in Qatar in the summer?"
Ginola turned out for Newcastle, Spurs, Aston Villa and Everton during a seven year spell in the Premier League. More recently he has been appearing as a pundit and presenter for BT Sport.
Ginola had shown no signs of ill health before collapsing, and was spotted at a party on Tuesday evening alongside former Formula One stars such as David Coulthard, Eddie Jordan.
A spokeswoman for Ginola said he had passed out during hot weather but the cause was currently unknown.
The temperature in Mandelieu in France peaked at 24C today.
