Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle is in talks regarding apossible move to Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old signed a new-three year deal at Selhurst Park in April but has struggled to hold down a regular first team place.

We understand he has now agreed personal terms and could become part of a deal which sees Andros Townsend travelling in the opposite direction to Selhurst Park.

Newcastle winger Andros Townsend is set to sign for Crystal Palace for £13m after just five months on Tyneside.

The 24-year-old England international joined the Magpies for £12m in January from Tottenham, but they went on to be relegated from the Premier League.

Palace have triggered a release clause in Townsend's contract, and he is set to sign a four-year deal on Friday.

Eagles forward Dwight Gayle is poised to move the other way in a deal thought to be worth about £10m.

And Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is close to signing Bournemouth midfielder Matt Ritchie in a £12m deal.
