Nolito has agreed a three-year contract to join Manchester City, according to reports in Spain.

The Spain and Celta Vigo striker, who is currently playing in , was linked with a return to Barcelona where he was given his debut by Pep Guardiola in 2010.

However, Nolito reportedly grew tired of waiting for the Spanish giants to make their move and has instead decided to join Guardiola at the Etihad after City met his buy-out clause of £14.1m.

Nolito, who almost joined Barcelona in the January window and was also linked with Arsenal, has scored 39 goals in 100 league appearances for Celta since joining the club from Benfica in July 2013.

He played over 100 games for Barcelona's B team but moved to Portugal in May 2011 after rejecting a contract at the Nou camp.

The 29-year-old, whose real name is Manuel Agudo Duran, received his first call-up to the Spain squad in 2014 and has scored five goals in 12 matches for his country.

Should the claims by Spanish TV3 prove to be correct, Nolito will become Guardiola's second signing following the arrival of Germany international Ilkay Gundogan.

Nolito: Manchester City want to buy Spain winger from Celta Vigo

Spain winger Nolito is a summer transfer target for Manchester City.

City will meet an 18m euros (£13.8m) release clause in Nolito's Celta Vigo contract, which expires in 2018.

The 29-year-old, who is on duty with his country at Euro 2016, has yet to decide his future, with his former club Barcelona also interested in him.

Nolito has started all three of Spain's matches at the Euros so far, scoring in the 3-0 win against Turkey on 17 June.

He started his career at Barcelona, where was given his debut in 2010 by Pep Guardiola, who is City's new manager.

Nolito moved to Benfica in 2011, before joining Celta two years later.

Should the winger join City, he would become Guardiola's second signing following the £20m arrival of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund.

Nolito is flying in for talks with Manchester City on Wednesday as he closes in on a £13.8million move from Celta Vigo.

The Spain international will be officially confirmed as the second major signing for Pep Guardiola later this week as the new City manager steps up his preparations for pre-season.

City triggered the buy-out clause in Nolito's contract earlier this month and have beaten off rival interest from Guardiola's former club Barcelona to sign the striker, who has been cleared for talks after Spain's exit from Euro 2016.

After scoring 12 goals in La Liga last season, Nolito emerged as a priority target for Guardiola and he will join £21million signing Ilkay Gundogan at the Etihad Stadium.

The 29-year-old, who also scored in Spain's 3-0 win over Turkey at Euro 2016, is expected to sign a three-year contract and will have his medical in Manchester in the next 24 hours.

Guardiola officially starts work at City on July 1 but is already working on further new signings, with Everton's England international John Stones a priority target.

Stones, 22, failed to make an appearance under Roy Hodgson but is heading for another summer of uncertainty with his future at Goodison Park in doubt.

City could have to pay around £40million for the centre-half, who was the subject of four unsuccessful bids from Chelsea last summer.

Nolito could join Manchester City as early as this week, according to Sky sources.

Talks over a deal for the Celta Vigo forward have been stepped up since Spain were eliminated from Euro 2016 on Monday.

And it is understood Nolito could travel to Manchester in the coming days to finalise a reunion with his old Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola gave Nolito a first-team debut, but the player was largely used by Barcelona's 'B' team before moving on to Benfica.

The 29-year-old returned home to join Celta in 2013 and won a first international cap the following year.

Twelve goals in La Liga last season helped secure a spot in France, where he featured in all four of Spain's games and scored in a 3-0 win over Turkey.

City have already recruited Ilkay Gundogan this summer ahead of Guardiola's arrival and are also interested in the midfielder's former Borussia Dortmund team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
