LA Galaxy will follow up the signing of Ashley Cole by bringing in former Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong. AC Milan hardman De Jong, 31, has been offered a three year contract and will move to the US after also attracting interest from Leicester in the January window. Dutch midfielder De Jong quit City four years ago, played in the 2010 World Cup final and will be seen as another major coup for Major League Soccer. Ex-Arsenal, Chelsea and England left back Cole, 35, is one of the few big name defenders to go to the MLS.
LA Galaxy general manager said: “Ashley is one of the world’s most successful defenders and has played at the highest level of competition throughout his career.
“He can provide our defence with valuable experience. We look forward to his contribution to our club this season.”
