Cani joins Atletico Madrid



Veteran midfielder Cani has left Villarreal for Atletico Madrid on a loan deal until the end of the season, the clubs have confirmed.

The Yellow Submarine released a brief statement on Wednesday evening announcing the transfer, with Los Colchoneros affirming the news as well.

Cani, 33, has been at El Madrigal since a 2006 move from Real Zaragoza, making more than 250 appearances for the club.

Atletico Madrid have signed Villarreal midfielder Cani on loan for the rest of the season.
The 33-year-old can play on either side of midfield, and sporting director Jose Luis Caminero told the club's official website he is delighted with the signing.

"He is a proven player in our league with tremendous quality, who will increase competition within the squad.
We are very happy with his arrival because he will contribute a lot to the team in this decisive period of the season."
