Rafael van der Vaart and Marcell Jansen will leave Hamburg in the summer after not being offer new deals.



Both will be out of contract in the summer, and the club's director of sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer has confirmed they have no future at Hmaburg.

"Rafael and Marcell know that we are not going to hold any talks with them over contract extensions," Beiersdorfer said on his club's website.

"With Heiko and Slobodan, we've left it open. We've postponed a decision and told the players this.

"The players have assured us that ensuring Hamburg avoid relegation is the absolute priority and that they will put everything into this."

Rafael van der Vaart agrees to join Real Betis on a three-year deal

Former Real Madrid and Hamburg striker Rafael van der Vaart has reportedly agreed to join newly promoted Real Betis on a three-year deal with the Dutch international set to official sign his new contract on Monday.

According to German sports daily Bild, van der Vaart has agreed to join Real Betis on a three-year after his contract with Hamburg officially expires on 30th June.

After his contract with Hamburg was allowed to expire, van der Vaart made it clear that he was determined to make the move back to Spain and play in Andalusia to be closer to his grandfather Rafael Garcia Peci and grandmother Dolores who still live in Chiclana de la Frontera, where his mother Lolita was born.

While van der Vaart’s first choice was to join Cadiz, the Segunda B side were in no way capable of supporting his salary, narrowing the two eligible teams down to Malaga and Real Betis.

The 32-year-old has agreed to join Real Betis and while he will stretch their budget as the highest-paid player, it’s the kind of impact signing that may draw others to the club and bring them the goals they need to stay in the Primera for many years to come

Former Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart has returned to Spanish football after signing for Real Betis on a three-year deal.

The 32-year-old, capped 109 by the Netherlands, moves to Betis after his three-year stay with Hamburg ended when the club decided not to extend his contract.

Van der Vaart had gone back to the Bundesliga outfit for a second spell in 2012 from Tottenham, where he had been for two seasons before leaving halfway through his contract.

He was a big favourite at Spurs, scoring three goals in his first two derbies against Arsenal in a debut campaign that saw him net 15 times in total.

The attacking midfielder made a similar impact the following campaign, scoring 13 goals including another against Arsenal before he moved on.

Now back in Spain, the former Ajax youngster will play in La Liga for the first time in five years following a stint with Real Madrid between 2008 and 2010.

Van der Vaart is the first signing Betis have made since they sealed promotion back to the top flight by winning the Segunda Division by two points from Sporting Gijon.

The Dutchman will be paraded to fans at the Benito Villamarin Stadium during a midday unveiling on Tuesday.
