Shanghai Shenhua remain confident of securing the signature of Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka after claiming a three-year contract is in the process of being agreed.
Anelka, 32, is set to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window after he and defender Alex had transfer requests accepted last week, with the pair subsequently now training away from the first-team.
In November, Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua added fuel to speculation in the French media that a move to East Asia is in the offing for Anelka, who joined the Blues from Bolton in 2008.
And now Shanghai Shenhua's assistant spokesperson Ma Yue has suggested Anelka is on the brink of agreeing terms with the Chinese Super League outfit.
Ma told Shanghai Daily: "It will be a three-year contract and will involve both football and commercial cooperation."
Club chairman Zhu Jun added: "We started to talk about every detail from the first minute of the negotiations.
"The whole contract is made up of details. It's comprehensive and complicated, involving the player's image and the commercial cooperation."
