Time for an update now regarding Premier League pace-setters Manchester City and their pursuit of Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The Bundelsiga club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs has admitted they are considering an offer for the player.

Sources have told us the deal under discussion is for an initial £54.4million rising to £58million.

Wolfsburg have maintained they want to keep the player - but the momentum seems to point towards a move to the Etihad, though reports in Germany claim Bayern Munich may be his preferred destination.

De Bruyne played the full 90 minutes at the weekend and is expected at the Wolfsburg training ground this afternoon.

Despite reports suggesting the Munich side could try and gazump long-time admirers Manchester City over Kevin De Bruyne,
Bayern spokesman Markus Hoerwick told reporters about the Wolfsburg midfielder: "We will definitely not become active in the matter of De Bruyne.
This is something the board has decided for some time."

Manchester City have been left in pole position to finally De Bruyne after Bayern Munich pull out of the running

Bayern Munich have ruled themselves out of the race to sign Manchester City target Kevin de Bruyne.

That leaves Manuel Pellegrini in pole position to land the Wolfsburg playmaker.

City have tracked the Belgian international all summer and are prepared to pay in the region of £60m to bring him to the Etihad.

Bayern were believed to be ready to compete for his signature - but the German champions insist they will not move this summer.

Spokesman Markus Hoerwick confirmed: “We will definitely not become active in the matter of De Bruyne. This is something the board has decided for some time.”

Wolfsburg have so far been stubborn during negotiations for their prize asset.

City are determined to sign De Bruyne before the transfer window closes next week - but know the German club are under no financial pressure to sell.

It is understood that the 24-year-old is keen to return to the Premier League after previously failing to establish himself at Chelsea - and that City are his preferred option.

But it may take him publicly declaring his intention to leave Wolfsburg for a deal to go through.

Sporting director Klaus Allofs said: “I want to stress that we are making every effort to convince him to stay. But we are equally serious about dealing with these issues should we have serious offers in front of us. Then we will discuss it and take a decision.”

BREAKING: DE BRUYNE'S MUNICH TALKS

Sources in Belgium have told SSNHQ that Kevin de Bruyne’s representatives have had no contact or discussions with Manchester United.

It’s understood however that they have held talks with Bayern Munich’s President Karl-Heinz Rummenigge about the player joining the Bundesliga champions at the end of the season.

Man City remain favourites to sign the winger and talks to conclude a deal worth up to £58m are continuing today. It’s understood the player is happy to join City, but has said he “won’t go to war” with Wolfsburg.
