Norwich boss Alex Neil has confirmed he is interested in signing Roma striker Mattia Destro.If he manages to sign the former AC Milan loanee, Neil has conceded he would consider letting either Gary Hooper or Ricky van Wolfswinkel go out on loan.Bolton manager Neil Lennon has been linked with a move for Hooper, who he signed from Scunthorpe in 2010 when he was the manager of Celtic.
Italian international Destro has been with Roma since 2012 and scored eight goals in Serie A last season as his team finished second behind champions Juventus.
Asked at Friday’s press conference if he was interested in the 24-year-old, Neil said: "I didn't know you knew about that one. He's a player that has been discussed.
"There's ongoing negotiations with quite a few players, not even just players but clubs and agents and different things like that as well."
Norwich have only signed four players - Graham Dorrans, Youssouf Mulumbu, Robbie Brady and Jake Kean - so far this summer.
That's a relatively small number for a promoted side and much less than Championship winners Bournemouth and runners-up Watford, who have brought in 18 new recruits between them.
Neil is adamant many of those who helped his side come through the play-offs to go up merit a chance to stay involved and added: "It doesn't concern me what other teams do.
"I've 22 players who have played in the Premier League and I think the players that got us there last year showed over that limited period of time between January and the end of the season how efficient they were at Championship level.
"They were above that level so what we're trying to do now is convert that into Premier League level, which is obviously more difficult.
"We're further down the line in terms of how we deal with things and the understanding we've got about what I'm wanting and how they go about it on the pitch."
