Done deal: Real Madrid to reel in James RodríguezReal Madrid have agreed an 80 million euro transfer fee; all that remains to be determined is which day he will be officially unveiled. Real Madrid and Monaco have agreed terms for the transfer of James Rodríguez; an official statement is expected from the Bernabéu on Tuesday or Wednesday. Both clubs have been locked in talks for the past week, only reaching a compromise on Sunday night.
AS understands that Monaco will receive a fee close to 80 million euros for the Columnbia international and that only a few minor details need to be resolved to conclude the operation
and whether a Madrid player will be included in the deal. Monaco are keen on Diego López but the player insists he wants to stay at the Bernabéu.
Madrid would ideally like to present James at the stadium this week.
That would means that Florentino Pérez and José Ángel Sánchez would have to delay their trip to Los Angeles where the first team squad are due to land tomorrow for the pre-season stage.
James would join up with the squad, together with Varane and Benzema on August 1. James refused to say anything about his move to Madrid when he was asked by reporters at Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas T4 this afternoon.
The player was in the capital to take a connecting flight to Nice, France. But the new was later confirmed by his agent, Jorge Mendes.
At the Bernabéu, everything is in place for the unveiling: the President’s suite has been ready since last Thursday when Toni Kroos was presented
and there is even a plaque bearing his name on his future room - No.110, at the players’ residence in Valdebebas.
James will wear the number 10 shirt which was last worn by Mesut Özil. http://as.com/diarioas/2014/07/21/english/1405897532_216866.html 信AS
