Bani Yas set to complete move for ex-Juventus striker David Trezeguet - report

The 33-year-old former France international has triggered interest from clubs such as Nice, Napoli, Aston Villa and Swansea City but reportedly is ready to move to Abu Dhabi

By Ben Somerford

Last season's UAE Pro-League runners-up Bani Yas are on the verge of sealing a deal for former France international David Trezeguet, according to Sport360.

The 33-year-old ex-Juventus and Monaco forward is available on a free transfer after leaving Spanish club Hercules at the end of last season.

Bani Yas had been in discussions with Trezeguet and a source at the club said the deal could soon be complete.

“We are just working on the finer aspects and there could be an announcement soon, but things
are positive and everything is fine now," the source said.

“We will announce and do whatever we have to do once things get clear and are certain. It’s a matter of completing formalities and these things should get done over the next few days.”

The source added: “He is a world-class player, who has proved himself on every stage and he will bring great value to the club."

Should Bani Yas complete a deal for Trezeguet, they would beat off interest from Nice, Napoli, Aston Villa and Swansea City.

Monaco striker Chu-Young set for Arsenal deal

Page last updated at 12:33 GMT, Saturday, 27 August 2011 13:33 UK

By David Ornstein
BBC Sport

Monaco striker Park Chu-Young will complete a move to Premier League side Arsenal this weekend.

The South Korea captain, who has made over 91 appearances for the French club, is on his way to London for a medical in the next 24 hours.

Park was a former target for Premier League rivals Fulham.

The 26-year-old had completed a medical to sign for French side Lille, but a call from Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has prompted him head to London.

Lille were surprised on Saturday at the disappearance of Park, who failed to show up for the second part of his medical having agreed terms to join the French champions.

Lille president Michel Seydoux said: "We haven't had a telephone call, nothing.

"From what we understand he could be at Arsenal," the Lille boss said.

Park had been due at the northern French side to continue with the traditional pre-signing medical which he had begun on Friday.

"Like Monaco, Lille are baffled," added Seydoux, adding: "Everything [about his move] had been agreed."

Park scored an own goal in a 4-1 defeat by Argentina at the 2010 World Cup. However, he redeemed himself in South Korea's next match against Nigeria by scoring a crucial free-kick in a 2-2 draw, allowing the Koreans to advance to the round of 16.

Sampdoria's Andrea Poli set to join Inter on loan - report

The defensive midfielder looks set to join Inter on loan, and along with Kurcka and Palacio is one of several targets for the Italian giants

Aug 27, 2011 1:50:00 PM

Inter are on the verge of signing Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal, according to reports emerging from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 21-year-old looks set to join the 2011 Coppa Italia winners for the new campaign and could move to San Siro permanently for ?6 million if he makes 25 appearances, due to a clause in the loan agreement.

Gian Piero Gasperini is looking to strengthen his squad, after the recent departures of Samuel Eto'o to Anzhi Makhachkala and Goran Pandev's loan move to Serie A rivals Napoli.

Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that the Milanese giants are closing in on a deal for Genoa's Juraj Kucka, and are willing to pay ?3m for half of the player's rights plus half of Emiliano Viviano's contract.

Kucka could be joined at Inter by Genoa team-mate Rodrigo Palacio who would cost the club ?9m.

Other attacking options for the Serie A giants include Lazio's Mauro Zarate with the club still in negotiations with the Rome club in the hope of agreeing a loan doal for the Argentine striker.

One forward who looks set to join the Gasperini revolution is Atletico Madrid's Diego Forlan for ?5m with personal terms reportedly being agreed.

However, the deal is currently being held up due to a disagreement regarding wages between Atletico and Forlan.

AC Milan make ?15m Kaka move, and are prepared to wait for Real Madrid retreat on price

The Italian club have detailed their offer to the Madrid side, and would have priority should the Spaniards agree to let the attacker leave

Aug 27, 2011 2:00:00 PM

EXCLUSIVE
By Sergio Chesi

Lines of communication have been opened between AC Milan and Real Madrid with regards to a sensational return to San Siro for Brazilian attacker Kaka, with the Italian champions looking to seal a cut-price ?15 million transfer, Goal.com has learned.

Amid recent links to Inter, Kaka stated his emotional ties to his former club were too strong for him to entertain the idea of joining Massimo Moratti's club. And these words have struck a chord with the powers that be at Via Turati, leading them to make early moves for the Madrid No. 8.

Milan are looking to finish the summer window with a bang just as they did by bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho at this stage last year, and a return of the much-loved Brazilian would likely be a huge hit with the fans.

The key to the deal remains in the Spanish giants lowering their asking price. They have shown a willingness to listen to offers for the 82-cap forward, but paid out ?67 million in total for Kaka in 2009. They have indicated that they would be willing to sell for around half of their original payout, but Milan have lowered the bar further in their hope of pushing Madrid into a cut-price deal.

Bernabeu coach Jose Mourinho has played down talk regarding Kaka's future which sparked from his lack of use in some recent games, but has refused to rule out a move.

"Kaka is my player. He has worked very hard since the first day. He hasn't missed one single training session. It was my decision not to play him very much in official matches but a lot during pre-season," said Mourinho.

"He is called up for [the] Zaragoza [match], like the good professional that he is, and he will be on the bench. That [Mesut] Ozil will play [on Sunday] is nothing new, but I am happy to look to my side and have a player like him there."

The Italians have shown a willingness to pay ?15m up front for the player's full rights, or - as a secondary option - would offer to take Kaka on loan for the 2011-12 season with a view to a permanent deal next summer at an agreed cost of ?20m.

There remain many obstacles between the current situation and an agreement being reached due to differences in tax laws between the respective countries. There would also need to be a concession of wages on the Brazilian international's part, with a likely reduction from ?9m to ?6m per year being asked of him. The indications are that Kaka would be willing to meet this stipulation in order to return to Milanello.

With the offer, Adriano Galliani has laid Milan's cards on the table, but there are two possibilities which could result in a deal not being pushed through. First, the attempts to secure a bargain could allow another of Europe's top clubs to usurp Milan in an auction for the player, while Real Madrid could yet make an about-turn and decide that they are no longer interested in listening to offers for the former Sao Paulo man.

But Milan are willing to take that chance, and will be willing to allow time to run short in the summer window before giving up on any deal. With Alberto Aquilani having been brought in, their market is now over but for a Kaka move, meaning that they bide their time - perhaps even until Wednesday's final hours - hoping that Madrid will back down and accept a discount to allow the former Rossoneri hero to return home.

EXCLUSIVE: YOUNG PENS DEAL
Posted on: Sat 27 Aug 2011

Neil Warnock has swiftly followed up the capture of Joey Barton with the signing of Luke Young from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

The experienced England international defender has penned a three-year deal at Loftus Road.

In an exclusive interview with www.qpr.co.uk, Young - who has featured in Villa's opening two fixtures of the 2011/12 Barclays Premier League campaign - revealed how excited he is about the challenge and returning to his London roots.

"I am ready for a new challenge," he said. "There are big things that are going to happen at this Football Club and I am really pleased to be a part of it.

"Myself and Joey signing here shows the intent of the Club.

"I am really looking forward to getting started and pulling on the blue and white shirt."

Warnock believes the former Tottenham Hotspur defender's versatility will be key over the course of the season.

"I've been looking for a defender with vast Premier League experience for a while now and Luke certainly fits the bill," Warnock told www.qpr.co.uk.

"He can play anywhere across the back four and that versatility will stand us in really good stead.

"Moving back home to London will also serve him well and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in action for us - he's got so much to give and his experience will be vital."

Young will wear the number 18 shirt.

Warnock winning SWP race
Wright-Phillips closing on Loftus Road switch

Last Updated: August 27, 2011 1:48pm

Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers are leading the chase for Shaun Wright-Phillips, with a deal having been agreed.

The winger has slipped down the pecking order at Manchester City and is looking to find regular football away from Eastlands.

Unsurprisingly, a number of clubs have shown an interest in the England international.

Sky Sports sources reported on Friday that the race for his signature was hotting up, with QPR and Stoke having tabled bids.

It is now believed that Neil Warnock's side have edged in front of the Potters, with productive transfer talks having been held.

It is understood that an agreement has been reached, with Wright-Phillips prepared to link up with the Premier League new boys.

Should he sign, he will be reunited with former City team-mate Joey Barton at Loftus Road, with the midfielder having penned a four-year contract with QPR on Friday.

Baggies reject Thomas bids
Offers from Fulham, QPR and West Ham knocked back

Last Updated: August 27, 2011 12:37pm

Skysports.com understands West Brom have received three bids for Jerome Thomas and have rejected them all.

Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham are the sides believed to have tabled offers for the winger.

The Baggies are reluctant to do business, though, as Thomas remains a key part of their plans.

The 28-year-old has only recently shaken off a hip problem that has delayed his start to the new season.

He made his first appearance of the campaign in the Baggies' 4-1 Carling Cup victory over Bournemouth, and opened the scoring after just seven minutes.

Roy Hodgson is now mulling over whether to hand Thomas his first Premier League start of the season against Stoke on Sunday.

The Baggies boss remains a big fan of the former Arsenal and Charlton man and is not prepared to discuss a sale during the summer transfer window.

EXCLUSIVE: Stoke sign Palacios and open talks with Crouch over £20m double deal

By Sportsmail Reporter

Last updated at 2:08 PM on 27th August 2011

Stoke are close to pulling off a spectacular £20million double deal for Wilson Palacios and Peter Crouch as they bid to challenge for honours at home and abroad.

Negotiations for Tottenham midfielder Palacios' move to the Britannia Stadium have been successfully concluded, and he is now a Stoke player.

Tottenham's England striker Crouch is in the Potteries discussing a transfer to Stoke, who are confident he will join them and complete a significant coup that will send out a serious statement of intent about Tony Pulis' side's ambitions this season.

Stoke initially moved for the pair earlier this month, but were frustrated by an inability to agree valuations with the White Hart Lane club and Crouch's reluctance to leave Tottenham, following a Champions' League campaign last season.

Pulis and chairman Peter Coates persevered, however, and are finally on the brink of a breakthrough that will increase their prospects of maintaining a challenge for honours domestically and in the Europa League.

It is understood Palacios is costing between £7million and £9m and that the fee for Crouch, who is expected to sign in the next 24 hours, is between £11m and £13m.

Pulis had sounded a note of caution over his side's recruitment drive, ahead of their game with West Brom, saying: 'We have a wage structure here that we are keen to keep to. That is how the club is run, and it is the right way to go.

'The problem is that, as we improve as a club, we are asking players to come here for maybe less wages than they are already on.

'That is the difficult part. But we will keep pursuing our targets, and do our best to bring them here, because at the moment, we are not capable of competing on two fronts, home and in Europe.'
