Reported Arsenal target Alessio Cerci has told Torino that he wants to leave the Serie A club this summer.

The tricky winger, who can also play as a striker,

has been linked with a move away from Turin for the past few months, with Premier League side Arsenal touted as potential suitors.

And club president Urbano Cairo has revealed that the 27-year-old Italian has expressed his desire to seek pastures new this transfer window.

"Cerci's sale is still possible and he has asked to leave," Cairo is quoted as telling Mediaset Premium.

"There are still four days left in the transfer window, so we will see what happens.

"I've given my word that we'll sell him if an adequate offer arrives.

"Arsenal? There are several options."

His manager Giampiero Ventura admitted that Cerci is not in the right frame of mind to feature for Il Toro, and is unsure what the future holds.

"Currently, Cerci does not have the right head to play," Ventura told a press conference.

"We wil wait for the end of the market and see."

Atletico Madrid are reportedly closing in on Torino forward, Alessio Cerci for a fee of ?16-20 million.



According to Italian sports daily, La Gazzetta dello Sport,

Atletico Madrid and Torino are close to finalising a deal for the 27-year-old star, with the two sides now battling it out over a ?4 million gap.

The report goes on to add that Atletico Madrid are standing firm on their ?16 million offer, while Torino refuse to announce the deal as official for anything less than ?20 million.

However, it is believed that this gap in price will be resolved soon and the Italian international will be on his way to joining Diego Simeone’s stellar squad.

Atletico Madrid recently signed Club America striker, Raul Jimenez, who made his debut in Saturday evening’s Trofeo Carranza win over Sampdoria.

Alessio Cerci has categorically denied posting a tweet announcing that he is set for a move to Atletico Madrid.

The Torino forward has been linked with a move to the Spanish champions of late,

with a message on social media briefly appearing claiming he had reached an agreement with the Vicente Calderon side.

The tweet was then deleted but, speaking to Sky, the Italy international insisted someone must have hacked into his account and that he did not even delete the message.

“I absolutely didn’t send the message, I was playing the Playstation with my teammates! Someone must have gone onto my account,” Cerci explained.

“Now I will take action because it absolutely wasn’t me. I received so many telephone calls and I didn’t know what was going on. I don’t know what to say.

“Now we will see who it was. You can talk about the transfer window, but I never wrote anything of that sort.

“It wasn’t even me who deleted it! Now I will go down the legal route and see who it was.”

Alessio Cerci could become Atletico Madrid's latest summer signing after Torino president Urbano Cairo admitted the Italy international had asked to leave.
Reports in Italy on Saturday appeared confident that Atletico is the club in negotiations with Torino to secure the services of the versatile 27-year-old forward.

According to Sky Sport, Atletico have renewed their pursuit of Cerci after lodging a 12-million-euro bid a few weeks ago,
with an additional two million in add-ons. Cerci was left out of Torino's squad to face Inter Milan in Serie A this weekend.
Torino appear to be open to the sale of the former Fiorentina player, but it will take a more attractive offer, according to Cairo.

"There is not long left [of the transfer window], we are listening to offers but as yet we have not received one that is satisfactory," Cairo said.
"If it comes, it will not be me who clips Alessio's wings but there is little time remaining and it's difficult to find a solution.
There is a 50 percent probability that he will leave, which is a lot."
