Becks arrives at Spurs
Former England captain to undergo medical as loan talks continue
Last updated: 10th January 2011
David Beckham is to undergo a medical at Tottenham on Monday as talks regarding a proposed loan deal continue.
The 35-year-old midfielder is back in England and has arrived at Spurs' Chigwell training ground with his boots at the ready, despite the fact that the first-team squad have been given the day off following Sunday's 3-0 FA Cup victory over Charlton.
Harry Redknapp revealed over the weekend that the former Three Lions skipper was to jet in this week, with the Los Angeles Galaxy having granted permission for him to work on his fitness with Tottenham.
It was initially hoped that a short-term agreement could be put in place with the MLS outfit which would allow Beckham to turn out in the Premier League for the first time since leaving Manchester United back in 2003.
Discussions
However, discussions have stalled, with Redknapp admitting on Sunday morning that he considered a deal to be dead.
He changed his tune later in the day, claiming a switch could yet be agreed, but there remain a number of issues to iron out.
For now Beckham is set to work with Spurs until 10th February, when he will be expected to return to the United States ahead of the 2011 MLS season.
However, with the new campaign in America not due to get underway until 15th March, Tottenham remain hopeful that a deal can be struck which will allow them to take advantage of Beckham's considerable experience and undoubted ability - with Redknapp's side still pushing hard in the Premier League title race and safely through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
