Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has confirmed midfielder Steve Sidwell is close to joining West Ham.Reports emerged earlier in the week that Sidwell, who has made just three starts for Villa this season due to an Achilles injury, was in talks with the Hammers.
The move would reunite Sidwell with Hammers boss Avram Grant, who managed the midfielder during an ill-fated stint at Chelsea which saw him make 10 starts in a year-long spell following a move from Reading.
Houllier confirmed: "Steve is having a medical. He's at the end of his contract (next summer) and it's not a secret that he lives in London."Otherwise I think Wolves would have been interested in signing him."
