Pulis issues Begovic blast
Tony Pulis has accused Asmir Begovic of being 'disrespectful' after he refused to turn out for Stoke on Tuesday.The Potters had planned to use their back-up keeper in their Carling Cup second round clash with Shrewsbury.
However, the Bosnian shot-stopper, who has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea,
informed Pulis on the morning of the game that he would not be available for selection.Carlo Nash was promoted to the starting line-up with Thomas Sorensen on the bench, in a game the Potters eventually won 2-1.
Pulis was fuming at Begovic after the game, saying: "He said this morning he did not want to play.
"I find that very disappointing. We pay his wages and he has a responsibility to the club. We have a lot of supporters who idolise this club and love it.
"We have a management team and people around who have been here a long time. They respect the club and like it as much as the supporters do. To do what he has done is totally disrespectful.
"Obviously people have been blowing in his ear. That goes on. I will have a chat with him tomorrow."
Asked whether Begovic's self-imposed exile would help to edge him closer to the Britannia Stadium exits, Pulis added: "With our chairman (Peter Coates) it is less likely. I do not think Peter will be pushed around.
"We won't be giving him away and doing a deal because of what he has done. There has been interest from one or two clubs but nowhere near our valuation. We think he is a good goalkeeper and we want good players."
Begovic only joined the Potters from Portsmouth during the January transfer window, but has made only a handful of appearances for the club since completing a £3.25million switch.
