ONE JERSEY
"First of all I'd like to thank the president for this long-desired contract. It's what everyone wanted, both me and the club.
I thank the club for giving me another chance to keep wearing the only jersey I've always loved. I have two more years of responsibilities now and I'm sure we'll achieve great things in that time.
I thank everyone involved in this new American adventure."
FUTURE
"What do I expect to achieve in the next few years? It's not easy to work things out in advance.
You always aim high at the start of the season and you don't always get what you'd hoped for.
This year we've started off on the right foot. We're a good team and we have a very capable coach.
He's got us playing good football and places an emphasis on respect, which is something that's been missing recently.
If we keep going as we are, the future is bright for Roma."
MEMORIES
"If I had to pick a favorite memory from my career it would be June 17th [2001]. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. And I hope the memories I still have to create will be even better. That may sound like an unoriginal answer but it's the truth..."
ITALY
"I'm not thinking about the national team at the moment, just on doing well for Roma.
We'll have to see how I do physically and mentally between now and May.
I've always said that my national jersey is the Roma jersey, but I'm obviously always open to the possibility [of playing for Italy again]. That's not a 'no'; it's a 'we'll see'. "
DERBY
"The derby is different to any other game. The way you build up to it and play it is different. I'm not the sort of guy who makes predictions.
Piola's [Serie A goalscoring] record? I'm not thinking about that. My aim is to be successful and win things with Roma.
Of course it would be great if I managed to score that many goals, but I know it's almost impossible.
There are three Romans on the team and we also have experienced players like De Sanctis, Maicon and Strootman
who have played lots of derbies in their careers – they don't need to be told that Sunday's match will different to all the others.
We've grown up here so it means more to us Romans than other players, but that's normal.
At the end of the day they want to win it just as we do, although unfortunately you don't always get the result you want on the field."
AS Roma president James Pallotta
"There's not much I can add to what's already been said about Francesco over the years.
I'm honored that Francesco is staying here and I'd like to toast to Roma and Francesco together forever."RENEWAL
"There was never any question of Francesco going anywhere else. The length of time the contract took was down to the fact that
we had lots of other things going on. We weren't just working on Totti's contract but the whole team.
We spent a couple of months in the transfer market and brought in a new coach as well. There wasn't anything that was stretched out.
We understood that Francesco was the leader from day one. He was always going to be here forever." http://www.asroma.it/en/news/press_conference_totti_and_pallotta/
