Darren Bent: Derby County poised to sign Aston Villa striker 
Derby County are poised to sign out-of-favour Aston Villa striker Darren Bent on loan until the end of the season, reports BBC Radio Derby. The 30-year-old England international has just ended a loan spell at Brighton and is set to hold talks with Rams head coach Steve McClaren on Friday. Bent scored two goals in four games for the Seagulls and had said he was open to a longer deal.
It is hoped he will make his Rams debut against Ipswich Town on 10 January.
Bent, who has 13 England caps, has made eight appearances for Premier League side Villa this season, seven of them as a substitute.
He has scored 25 goals in 72 appearances for Villa since a £24m move from Sunderland in January 2011, but has not been a regular under Paul Lambert and spent last season on loan at Fulham.
