Joachim Low signs Germany contract extension until 2018 Joachim Low has extended his contract as head coach of World Cup holders until 2018 this month, the German football federation (DFB) has announced. Low joined the Nationalmannschaft as Jurgen Klinsmann's assistant in 2004 and took over from the current USMNT head coach in 2006.
The 55-year-old said via the DFB's English-language Twitter account: "I'm very happy. We still have big intentions and we're highly motivated.
"Thank you to the presidential board for their show of faith. We feel very much at home here at the DFB."
In all four major competitions since Low took the reins, Germany have at least reached the semifinal stage, crowning his career in the summer of 2014 in Brazil by leading the side to their first World Cup triumph since 1990 by beating Argentina 1-0 in the final.
