Manchester United's Radamel Falcao equals Colombia scoring record On-loan Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao equalled Colombia's goal-scoring record by netting a penalty in a 3-1 friendly victory over Kuwait on Monday. The 29-year-old has scored just four goals in 22 appearances while on loan at Old Trafford from Monaco this season.
But he has fared far better for his country during the international break as he has netted three in two games. The Colombia captain scored from the penalty spot in the 74th minute against Kuwait to take his international tally to 24 - level with Arnoldo Iguaran's national record. "I am happy to have scored but the most important thing is the victory for the team," said Falcao, who missed last year's World Cup after failing to recover in time from a serious knee injury.
"Today, we played a good team in the shape of Kuwait who created several chances and that helps us prepare for similar situations in future matches.
"These wins will help to build confidence for the Copa America [hosted by Chile and gets underway on June 11 with Colombia drawn alongside Brazil - who edged them in the World Cup quarter-finals last year - Peru and Venezuela]."
Abel Aguilar volleyed in Colombia's opener from the edge of the penalty area in the 22nd minute, but Musaed Alenezi leveled on the stroke of half-time for Kuwait.
Edwin Cardona restored Colombia's lead in the 68th with a long-range strike before Falcao made sure of the victory.
Falcao also scored twice in a 6-0 rout of Bahrain in a friendly last week, but he hasn't found the net for United in two months.
