Bolt anchors sprinters to world record in Daegu
Usain Bolt anchored the Jamaican 4x100m relay team to a gold medal in world record time at the World Championships in Daegu.
In the final event of the games, Bolt stormed down the finishing straight to cross the line in 37.04 seconds - six hundredths of a second quicker than in Beijing three years ago.
The Jamaicans - Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake and Bolt - avoided the carnage behind them on the final bend as America, Great Britain and Trinidad & Tobago were all wiped out.
Darvis Patton, running the third leg for the United States, clipped Britain's anchor man Henry Aikines-Aryeetey on the way in taking a crashing fall, inhibiting the final British changeover and also affecting the Trinidad athletes.
It meant 100m individual champion Blake passed the baton to 200m gold medallist Bolt in complete isolation, with France taking the silver medal ahead of St Kitts & Nevis.
"We were feeling wonderful," said Blake. "We got this and knew we could do it. When Usain got the baton I could see the record come tumbling."
In the women's event the gold medal was won by the United States quartet anchored by 100m individual gold medallist Carmelita Jeter.
The foursome - Bianca Knight, Allyson Felix, Marshevet Myers and Jeter - clocked a winning time of 41.56secs as they saw off the challenge Jamaica with Ukraine taking bronze.

南韓大邱舉行的世界田徑錦標賽，在壓軸的男子四乘一百米接力決賽，由保特領軍的牙買加隊，刷新世界紀錄，成功衛冕冠軍，牙買加由保特跑最後一棒，他以絕對優勢衝線，以37秒04的新世績奪金，比牙買加零八年京奧時創下的舊世績，快了0.06秒；法國慢1秒16得亞軍，聖克里斯多福與尼維斯得季軍。
保特昨日在男子二百米決賽，成功衛冕金牌，成為今屆賽事的雙冠王。
