Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed via Twitter that the Serie A runners-up are negotiating deals for the attacking duo as Raul Albiol undergoes a medical

Napoli are in negotiations to sign Gonzalo Higuain and Leandro Damiao, according to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Higuain has long been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer while Damiaohas been rumoured to be on Tottenham's radar since last season, but both moves have failed to materialise thus far in the close season.

With Napoli having sold star striker Edinson Cavani for ?64 million to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, the Partenopeiare now focused on completing a double swoop for the South Americanduo, while Madrid defender Raul Albiol is poised to move to the club upon the completion of his medical.

Speaking to supporters via Twitter, De Laurentiis said: "We are negotiating for Leandro Damiao and Higuain. Albiol is already having a medical."

Rafa Benitez has already bolstered the Serie A runners-up this summer, with goalkeeper Rafael and attacking duo Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens having completed moves to Stadio San Paolo in the past week.

Napoli have ?124.5m at their disposal for new players, club President Aurelio De Laurentiis has claimed.

The Azzurri chief made the revelation this morning after taking part in a Q&A session on social network Twitter.

The Stadio San Paolo outfit have money to spend after they sold Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain for over ?60m.

“If we add that ?64.5m to the ?60m that we had in our budget already then we get ?124.5m that Napoli will invest with diligence and experience,” he noted.

Replacing Cavani is now a top priority and De Laurentiis confirmed that Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain and Leandro Damiao of Internacional are targets.

“It’s true, we are in negotiations with Higuain and Damiao,” he added.

He also confirmed that Spanish international Raul Albiol, Real Madrid’s 27-year-old defender, is close to a move to Naples.

“Raul Albiol is having his medical,” ADL added. “Let us hope that he passes it.”

De Laurentiis added that Napoli’s new strip and club anthem will be unveiled on July 29 ahead of a friendly with Galatasaray.

Transfer news: Gonzalo Higuain reveals Jose Mourinho wants him at Chelsea

Reports in Spain say that Arsenal targetGonzalo Higuain has declared that Jose Mourinho wants to take him fromReal Madrid to Chelsea.


The Argentina striker has been tipped to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and has previously been linked to several clubs in Europe.


And Higuain has now been quoted as saying that Chelsea are also interested in a deal, having played under Mourinho at Real.

"Mourinho wants me there," Higuain is quoted as saying by AS.


At the end of last term Higuain was tipped to join Juventus but when that move broke down he made it clear that he had made his mind up to leave Madrid.


That led to Arsenal being strongly linked to a move, while Rafa Benitez's Napoli have also been associated with viewing the forward as are placement for Edinson Cavani.


With Madrid unwilling to let their star go on the cheap, the Spanish giants put a ?40million price tag on his head and that is well within Chelsea's spending budget.


AS add that while Mourinho has stated his admiration for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, and insisted he is Chelsea's only summer transfer target, that is a smokescreen to reveal that he wants to strengthen hisfront line at Stamford Bridge.


Mourinho is a big fan of Higuain and used him as a regular striker during his three years as head coach at Real Madrid.

Arsenal : ?26 million for Higuaín or forget it


Real Madrid has set a price for Higuaín. It is determined not to gobelow ?40 million. Arsenal, however, will not budge on its initial offerof ?26 million and does not want to pay more for the Argentine.

The London-based club has already increased its offer from ?21million to ?26 million after reaching a verbal agreement with theplayer.
