Champions League: Tottenham drawn against holders Real Madrid in group stage

Tottenham will face holders Real Madrid in the group stage of the Champions League.

Spurs have been drawn in Group H alongside Spanish side Real, German giants Borussia Dortmund and Apoel.

The draw pits Spurs against Wales winger Gareth Bale, who left the Premier League side for Real in a world record deal in 2013.

Scottish champions Celtic face a tough test in a group with Bayern Munich, Paris St-Germain and Anderlecht.

Premier League champions Chelsea have been drawn to play Atletico Madrid, Roma and Qarabag in Group C, while Europa League winners Manchester United face Benfica, Basle and CSKA Moscow in Group A.

Manchester City are up against Shakhtar Donetsk, Napoli and Feyenoord in Group F, and Liverpool will meet Spartak Moscow, Sevilla and Maribor in Group E.

The draw comprises 32 clubs, 22 of whom are direct entrants while ten qualified via the play-offs.
When and where is the draw?

The draw begins at 18:00CET on Thursday 24 August. It will take place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and will be streamed live on UEFA.com.

How will the draw work?

No team can play a club from their own association, with the exact draw procedure to be confirmed before the ceremony.

The draw also establishes the groups for the UEFA Champions League path of the UEFA Youth League.

【now.com體育】利物浦順利打敗賀芬咸晉身歐聯分組賽，令賽事首次出現5支英格蘭球隊角逐這個歐洲球會最高榮譽的分組賽。

利物浦於周三歐聯附次回合主場憑中場安利簡恩梅開二度，輕取賀芬咸4:2，總比數以6:3殺入分組賽，紅軍晉級後，與車路士、曼城、熱刺及以歐霸盃盟主身份參賽的曼聯一起出戰分組賽，是首次有多達5隊英軍角逐這個大賽的分組賽。

過去9個球季，英格蘭在歐聯的戰績未算太突出，期間只有車路士在2012年封王，而英格蘭球隊近年在賽事「單跳」，逢單數年都苦無球隊入4強，去季在賽事表現出色的李斯特城，亦不過8強止步。

今屆分組賽於周四進行抽籤，賽事於9月13日展開，而決賽在明年5月26日在基輔上演。
