'MAN CITY TARGET' WANTS A MOVEHighly-rated Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng wants to leave the club at the end of the season.
Reports in Germany on Tuesday suggested the 21-year-old has already agreed a deal to join Manchester City and Hamburg have admitted the Berlin-born defender is set to quit the club in the summer.
A Hamburg spokesman told
www.bundesliga.de: "Jorg Neubauer, Jerome Boateng's agent, has informed us that the player wants to move. There is no deal agreed yet, however."
Boateng joined Hamburg from Hertha Berlin in 2007 and has emerged as one of the leading defenders in the Bundesliga, making 71 appearances for the club.
He made his international debut in the key 1-0 World Cup qualifying win against Russia in October, although he blotted a composed performance with a 69th-minute red card.

City have been keen on luring the 21-year-old to Eastlands from Hamburg and now the English and German league seasons are over, the transfer could be concluded this week.
"We are quite close to signing him," Mancini told the Manchester Evening News.
"Boateng is a good player, a young player and strong.
"He plays for the national team and there is a good chance to get him.
"He can play three different positions; central defence, right full-back or in midfield. If we find a player like that it is better for us."
Mancini has vowed to bring in some fresh faces this summer, although the Italian has admitted his job will be made more difficult by the failure to secure a Champions League berth.
