Pepe Tips Quaresma For Summer Move
Real Madrid defender Pepe believes that his former Porto teammate Ricardo Quaresma is destined for a move to one of Europe's big leagues in the summer and hopes that he will join him at Los Blancos.
Quaresma is in his fourth year at Porto since joining from Barcelona in 2004 and at the age of 24, is starting to reach the point in his career where a move to one of European's elite leagues is required for him to prove himself on a greater stage.
Pepe made a similar switch himself last summer, when he moved from Porto to Madrid for a fee of ?30 million and has now settled into life at the Santiago Bernabéu after a somewhat shaky start.
He revealed that his former teammate Quaresma has been asking him about life at Madrid and stated that it would be better "to have Quaresma on your side rather than as an adversary" and believes that the right-winger has the "quality to play for any club."
He feels that the time is right for Quaresma to move on after performing at a "great level" for the last two seasons and predicts that many Porto stars are likely to consider a transfer to another league in the summer, naming Jose Bosingwa, Bruno Alves and Lucho González as other possible departures from the Estádio do Dragão.
"I hope that they understand what is good for the club and for the life of the player," he told AS.com
