Schuster Set To Oust Robinho?
Robinho: the new Cassano? That's the fear of Real Madrid's hierarchy, according to Sport. The pro-Barcelona daily contends that the Brazilian could be on his way out of the Bernabéu after more revelations about his current conduct...
Robinho appeared to be back on form - and back in his club's favour - after putting his overdue return from an international trip to South America behind him, but Sport claims that he's now slipping back into the Bernabéu bad books.
They state that the player, who recently undertook his own recovery plan from a muscle tear to the exclusion of the club's medical staff, has recently taken to emulating Antonio Cassano by leaving Madrid's training ground via a back window, rather than risk confrontation with the press, or even his manager.
What's more, the paper adds that Brazil's recent friendly with Sweden in London saw Robinho, along with Julio Baptista, Daniel Alves and Diego Ribas, left the match with a bevvy of blondes and brunettes on their arms. (Robinho is married.)
In any case, Robinho has found himself dropped for recent games, although he returned on Sunday against Real Murcia. Here, he was not at his best, spurning two fine chances and otherwise appearing to be slightly off the pace.
There have also been snippets about his dropping levels of overall fitness in light of the all too Brazilian partying syndrome that has already hurt some of his more famous compatriots.
While all in the capital remember his barnstorming early-season performances, there are now murmurs among the club hierarchy that the Brazilian may be setting down a path towards decline, with the words "Cassano" and "Ronaldinho" looming large.
And with the player's agent recently failing to reach agreement with sporting director Predrag Mijatovic over a contract extension, the player's future has suddenly been thrown into question...
