The FA won't consider any suspension for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney after his dismissal against Porto in Amsterdam on Friday.
The People says FA bosses will resist any calls from their Dutch counterparts to punish Rooney who was red-carded for catching Brazilian defender Pepe with a flailing arm during United's friendly with the Portuguese on Friday night.
Although referee Ruud Bossen will include the incident in his report to the Dutch FA tomorrow - and the dismissal of Paul Scholes for a reckless challenge on Ricardo Quaresma - it's understood Rooney is certain to be protected rather than punished by Soho Square.
United keeper Edwin Van der Sar backed Rooney and said: "Referees are looking for Wayne and too much is made of a reputation that does not exist.
"It was a legitimate challenge, maybe a bit clumsy but he did not deserve to be sent off."
